Frequently Asked Questions

Are your teachers and staff required to submit to criminal background checks? Yes, teachers, staff, and board members must complete a background check before they are allowed to participate in activities with The Genesis Theatre.
What security measures do you have in place for picking up students?  Genesis Theatre will only release students to the individual(s) that have been listed on the written authorization from. If there is an emergency and a need to have someone other than the authorized individual(s) pick up the student, you must contact our staff at 972 599 3505.
What if my child is cast in a major production and has found out that he/she cannot attend all of the rehearsals? Students are expected to attend all rehearsals because each production is single cast and there are no backup actors. If a student is ill or has an emergency, please contact your director immediately. In this instance, it is the student’s responsibility to get missed blocking, etc. Missing rehearsals may result in the student being given a different role.
Class / Performance Location
Where are the classes/performances held? Classes and performances are held at 3100 Independence Parkway Suite 324B, Plano, TX 75075 unless otherwise indicated on the ticket tab.
Class Observation
Can I watch my child in class? Parents are welcome to observe class from a distance. However, if you have an infant, please take them to the lobby. We will try to eliminate distractions from the students in the class.
Contacting Teacher
I have questions for the teacher, how do I contact them? Please send an email us at or contact our office at 972 599 3505. We will respond back to you at our earliest convenience. Please refrain from asking questions of the teacher while class is dismissing. Immediate concerns should be addressed with the Executive Director.
Who supplies costumes? The Genesis Theatre provides most costumes. Students may be asked to bring something from their personal closets infrequently.
Handicap Access
Do you have handicapped accessible parking and seating? Yes, we provide wheelchair accessible seating at the performances with prior notification. Please indicate the need for wheelchair accessible seating when you place your ticket orders.
Do you have classes on holidays? Genesis Theatre observes the following holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and day after, Memorial Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, July 4, and Easter.
Set Build
We do not require parents to build sets for a production; however, volunteers are welcome to assist in making some specialty props.


Do you offer refunds on classes/productions or ticket sales?

There are no refunds given on class tuition, production tuition, or tickets.  If a child drops a production, they have forfeited their spot and the full amount of the tuition. If as class is cancelled by Genesis Children’s Theatre, we will refund your money or transfer you to a different class.  If the price of the class or production you are transferred into is more than the class you were previously in, you will owe the difference.

If I register my child for a class, are they guaranteed a spot I that class? In order to keep class size small and preserve a safe nurturing environment for our students, we reserve the right to choose the students allowed in each class at our sole and absolute discretion.

Can I get a refund if my child decides not to complete a class/production? No refunds are given unless we cancel the class. Tuition cannot be transferred or applied to another class. If Genesis cancels the class, we will transfer your tuition or refund your money.
Tuition Payment
How much money is required at registration? $75 deposit is the minimum. The balance will be required before the student performs.
Payment Methods
What if I do not have a credit card to pay for classes? You may pay by check or cash. Contact staff at 972 599 3505 to set up arrangements.
Do you have discounts? We offer a sibling discount that will be automatically taken off at the end of your registration.  We also offer promotions from time to time. Make sure you are on our newsletter list so you will be the first to know when we run these promotions.
Tuition Use
What does my tuition cover? Tuition covers standard operating expenses such as rental of the facility, insurance, props, sets, equipment, salaries, etc. For major productions, royalties must be paid for each performance as well as rental of the scripts and scores for rehearsals and performances.

Tuition Assistance
Do you have financial aid available? Financial aid is available on a limited basis. An application must be completed and submitted prior to the due date. The board of directors will approve financial aid based on the application and audition.

Costume Donations
Some specialty costumes are accepted. Contact Executive Director 972 599 3505 for details.
How do I begin volunteering? Contact the Executive Director at 972 599 3505 for details. Volunteers will be required to submit to a criminal background check.
Donations to Financial Aid Program
How do I help a student financially? Make a donation on our website and flag it as a financial aid donation. You will receive a letter to file with your taxes as we are a 501©3 non-profit corporation.

Assigned Seating
Do you have assigned seating in the theater?  Yes!  Tickets are sold for seating ‘areas’ (general, riser, and front row). Seating for the performance will begin 30 minutes before the start of the performance. No one will be seated after the performance begins as a courtesy to our other patrons and our actors.

Do you provide refunds for purchased tickets? Sorry we do not refund tickets.

Required Purchases
If I enroll my child in a class, am I required to purchase tickets? There is no class participation requirement to purchase tickets. However, all performance classes require tickets to attend the performances.

Purchasing Tickets
How do I purchase tickets? Please select Come See A Show from the menu on any page.  On-line ticket sales will close 2 hours prior to the performance time and afterwards, tickets must be purchased at the door. Only cash and checks will be accepted for purchases at the door.

Ticket Pick-up
How will I get the tickets that I purchase? Tickets will be emailed to you or you can pick them up at will call. Tickets will be held for you at the door 45 minutes before the performance.

Purchases at Door
Can I purchase tickets at the door? Yes, Ticket sales at the door start 30 minutes prior to the performance. Only cash and checks will be accepted for purchases at the door. Tickets are limited and are subject to prior sale.

Do you give student, senior citizen or children discounts on tickets? Sorry, we do not offer discounts at this time.
